Visibility, citations, and content are not the same job

The GEO market rhymes. The workflows do not. Pick the category before you pick a vendor.

A marketer asking “which GEO tool?” is usually asking three different questions at once. Splitting them saves a quarter.

Visibility

You need prompt-level tracking across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, Gemini, sometimes Copilot. Profound, Peec, and Rankscale live here. The buying tension is depth versus price: enterprise reporting versus a weekly pulse you can stand up this afternoon.

Citations

You need to know when a brand is named or sourced in an answer, not only whether it ranks. Otterly is the clear low-floor example in this catalog. If the job is a mention report for a small program, do not buy a workflow suite to get it.

Content / GEO

You already know the gaps. You need assigned work: briefs, pages, optimization loops. AthenaHQ and Writesonic sit here for different reasons — one is a system of record for tasks, the other layers tracking onto generation you may already use.

Agency and SEO-suite listings exist for teams that will not rip out their current stack. Semrush and Ahrefs Brand Radar are not worse visibility tools. They are the wrong purchase if you do not already live there.
